Culture in the Nairobi Slums
In Nairobi slums you can find all the ethnies of Kenya and of the neighbouring countries. The exodus to the town increased with the economic difficulties and the problems with the agriculture. The many wars in the countries neighbouring Kenya have seen a great exodus of people from these countries into Nairobi, searching for a way of living.

This plurality gives a special atmosphere to Nairobi. The differences are richness, but sadly enough in some cases they become also source of difficulties and violence.

In many parishes and groups there is an effort to bring people from different ethnies together in order to bring about what is common to the different cultures and what is particular of each one. The aim of this work is to bring about the real values of the African traditions.

We present some of the articles and papers around culture in the slums and informal settlements.
