PRESENTATION OF THE WORLD SOCIAL FORUM

 

a) PRESENTATION BY CARITAS

 

- WSF comes to Nairobi in January 20th – 25th 2007 at Kasarani. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Uhuru Park. This year’s theme is: “Another World is Possible”.

- Caritas & AACC have formed an ecumenical forum that will allow churches to participate in WSF. Caritas is working on the following areas:

i)                    Urban livelihood

ii)                   HIV/AIDS

iii)                 Peace building & reconciliation

iv)                 Nomads

v)                  Media

vi)                 Youth

All KUTUOKA members are invited to participate in the working groups under Caritas forum.

 

b) PRESENTATION BY KUTOKA

 

For KUTOKA, Africities is an event preceding the WSF event. A committee is in place and is busy organizing activities to be held during the WSF. The following are some of the activities being organized:

a)      Documents will be prepared and issued during the WSF.

b)      A marathon to popularize the concerns on slums.

c)      A booth at Kasarani, & video projection.

d)      Cultural events

e)      Decentralized Mass services in different parishes on the Sunday preceding the WSF week.

f)        Involving WSF delegates in the parishes’ activities.

g)      Request for sponsorship to potential donors for support of WSF activities.

h)      Common prayer for WSF.
