Slums
KUTOKA - EXODUS
PRAYER
FOR THE WORLD SOCIAL FORUM, NAIROBI, KENYA - 2007 God our
Father, we, in solidarity with all the slum dwellers of Africa, come to you
confidently in prayer, for it is You who unite us in your love. You are the
source of all Justice, Peace and Love. We have often failed to take decisive
action against poverty, tribalism and violence.
Almighty Father, we
implore You, to help us to put aside our divisions and differences: By coming
together and participating in building our common projects By improving good
governance and local democracy By promoting decentralization and structuring
the African urban area, and also By sustaining local development and reinforcing
the capacities. Lord, hear the cries of your people, who are exploited,
marginalized, abused and victimized. Open our hearts to love, and enable us
to see that all people are made in your image. Transform us in the offering
of ourselves, so that we may be your partners in the transformation of
the formal and informal settlements of our urban communities in Africa. AMEN.
